In recognizing the important role that media and journalists play in reporting and creating awareness on climate change issues in Pakistan, the Civil Society Coalition for Climate Change (CSCCC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change, is organizing a dialogue to bring together the media and policy makers to engage in a conversation on the multi-dimensional aspects of climate change. The discussion will cover all aspects of climate change and identify key challenges that confront the country and make recommendation on how to highlight these critical issues to enhance awareness and expand outreach for advocacy. The dialogue will bring together experienced journalists who are currently working with various media, including broadcast, print, and web, and Ministry of Climate Change officials to share perspectives on climate change and exchange views and ideas that affect policy at both the national and international levels. The Honorable Minister for Climate Change, Mr. Mushahid Ullah will brief the media on Pakistan’s agenda at the upcoming Conference of Parties COP23 scheduled to be held in Bonn on 6-17 November and take questions related to climate change policy matters. It is anticipated that the dialogue will help to enhance understanding of the complexities and intricacies involved in addressing climate change challenges, sensitize public opinion, facilitate access to information and provide recommendations on workable strategies for way forward. The dialogue will take place on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Holiday Inn Hotel, Islamabad at 11 AM.
