Khalid Aziz

          Khalid Aziz joined the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1969. He has remained Political Agent of Khyber, Orakzai and North Waziristan agencies. He has been a Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner in KP. He was Additional Chief Secretary, Development and later became Chief Secretary of NWFP & FATA in 1996. He retired in 2005.
He was a member of the Pak-Afghan Peace Jirga convened in Kabul in 2007.

         He was the Chief Negotiator of NWFP for the distribution of the Indus River Waters in 1990 and also introduced adult franchise in tribal areas in the 1997 general elections. He has remained as Advisor to KP for the National Finance Commission, 2010 and for Energy.

      Since July 2016 he is assisting the FATA Reforms Committee & the Ministry of SAFRON as Senior Strategic Advisor. The Cabinet approved FATA Reforms on 2nd March 2017.He now heads the Regional Institute of Policy Research & Training, Peshawar a civil society organization involved in formulating alternate policy and research into issues of the conflict in the region.

         Since 2012 he has remained the Convener of the Pakistan Policy Group in a track II initiative to propose measures for regional peace in Afghanistan and the region Post-2014. A project supported by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Berlin.Khalid Aziz holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Peshawar University and an M.Phil, in Development Economics from Cambridge University.
